Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization is the attempt to "optimize" your website so that, when internet users use certain terms in a search engine such as Google, your site ranks high in the search results. Early in cyberspace, a cottage industry sprang up around search engine rankings. Website owners paid big bucks to have, sometimes unscrupulous, search engine optimization companies attempt to raise the website's standing in the search engines. These SEO companies used every trick and loophole in the book, from keyword stuffing to spamdexing to phishing to usage of a splash screen, and many more. Each time the SEO's found a new way to "game the system", search engines came up with new algorithms to offset the abuses. In one of the worst abuses, meta elements, which are hidden elements of a webpage that were implemented to provide a legitimate way for search engines to determine the subject matter of a particular page, were stacked with keywords that had nothing to do with the site's actual purpose. In response, the major search engines and directories now completely ignore meta-tags in meta elements and rely only on the content of the page. Attempts to stuff a site's content with keywords will now get your site banned from the major search engines, including Google and Yahoo. Furthermore, be wary if someone tells you they can get your site moved to the top of the search engine standings. Simple logic should tell you that only ten sites can be in the top ten search standings for a particular search term. If the content of your page is the most pertinent to the search term used, you will eventually rank high in the standings. If it's not, no amount of tweaking or stuffing will raise its rank. Therefore, World Wide Idaho will utilize legitimate meta elements for Yahoo and other directories and will optimize the content of your pages to fit the page title. We will advise you on what those titles and content should be. You may also choose to use one of the "pay per click" methods of Google or Yahoo, whereby you bid a certain amount on a specific keyword and when a user visits your site from that search engine, you pay the search engine that amount.

Robots.txt
The Robots.txt file must be on your website to tell the search engine spiders which pages to "crawl", i.e., which pages to extract links from.
Local Search
We install "local" search on all our websites. Local search is a method of searching only within the domain in question, as opposed to searching the entire Internet. If you scroll to the bottom of this page, you can try out the local search of this website.
